Simon Steen-Andersen receives Nordic Council Music Prize

RDAM Graduate Composer honoured with DKK 350,000

Simon Steen-Andersen received Nordic Council Music Prize of DKK 350,000 for his work "Black Box Music".  The prize ceremony took place on 29th October in Stockholm City Hall. It is the second time the 38 year old Danish composer has been nominated to the prize that is among Europe's finest acknowledgements within music, literature, film and nature/environment respectively.

Excerpts from Nordic Council's nomination of Black Box Music: "With Black Box Music the prize-winning and innovative composer Simon Steen-Jørgensen created a unique and radically different work. Black Box Music is razor-sharp score music that both contains an uncontrollable blend of craziness, humour, playfulness and hardcore instrumental boisterousness.

Simon Steen-Andersen graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Music's soloist class in May 2006.
