Global Audition Training (GAT) was introduced and developed by RDAM in 2012. It is a special concept for audition training which aims to bring new awareness and knowledge of different orchestral traditions into music academies.
The project involves five institutions covering three continents - New World Symphony, Cleveland Institute of Music, Royal College of Music London, Shanghai Conservatory of Music and RDAM.
Students studying orchestral instruments play live from their own location for a jury of concert masters and solo players from orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the Royal Danish Orchestra.
In addition to receiving feedback on the audition, participants are also involved in discussions focused on different orchestral traditions, playing styles, choice of repertoire, and technique, amongst other topics.
Global Audition Training is held 4 times a year.
