Johannes Mannov takes up professorship in Nürnberg

The baritone Johannes Manow takes up his professorship at the Music Academy in Nürnberg in October.
The Baritone Johannes Mannov, who for a number of years has been employed at RDAM as a voice teacher, has just been appointed professor in voice at the German music academy, Hochschule für Musik in Nürnberg. He takes up the position in October of this year and will do solo teaching of voice students at bachelor and master level.

Johannes Mannov has besides his experience as a teacher at both Danish and foreign institutions, worked extensively both as opera, lied and oratory singer. During his career he has sung regularly in Amsterdam's Concertgebouw, London Barbican Centre, Berliner Philharmonics, Leipzig Gewandhaus and at festivals in Perth, Edinburgh, Istanbul, Singapore and even with every Danish regional orchestra.

As opera singer, besides a long standing cooperation with the Royal Opera in Copenhagen, he has sung at the Bastille Opera in Paris, in Santiago de Chile, at opera houses in Hamburg and Berlin and in the USA at the opera houses in Seattle, Cincinnati and San Diego. He has performed with conductors such as Mstislav Rostropovitj, Lord Yehudi Menuhin, Sir Anthony Pappano, René Jacobs, Phillippe Herreweghe, Lars Ulrik Mortensen, Michael Schønwandt, Armin Jordan, Jeffrey Tate and Peter Schreier.

The repertoire ranges from early baroque to contemporary music and includes more than 40 opera parts in eight languages in productions by producers such as Peter Konwitchny, Kasper Holten, David Pountney, Willy Dekker, Francesca Zambello, Guy Joosten and Graham Vick. Johannes Mannov has worked personally with several of contemporary composers such as Paul Ruders, Luigi Nono, Wolfgang Rihm and Philip Boesmanns on first performances of their vocal works. He is also a diligent chamber musician and often active with a comprehensive lied repertoire on Danish and international concert platforms.

The professorship in Nürnberg is a part time position and Johannes Mannov keeps his association to both RDAM and the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, Southern Denmark.
