Ketil Haugsand new Associate Professor

One of Europe's leading harpsichordists takes up his position as Associate Professor at The Royal Danish Academy of Music

The harpsichordist Ketil Haugsand joins the Royal Danish Academy of Music as associate professor in harpsichord as of the academic year 2013/2014.

Ketil Haugsand is one of Europe's leading harpsichordists with extensive activities as soloist, ensemble musician and teacher. He originally graduated from the music academy in Oslo (now Norwegian Academy of Music) and had his official debut as pianist and harpsichordist in Oslo in 1969. In 1970-75 he studied with Gustav Leonhardt in Amsterdam where he finished his studies by receiving Prix d'Excellence in harpsichord.

Ketil Haugsand has since the 1970s had a highly profiled career as performing musician with numerous concerts in Europe, USA and Asia. Added to that are several recordings for radio and television as well as an extensive discography with CD-recordings much appraised by the critics.

He has since 1974 been a full-time teacher at music academy level. For the first many years at the Norwegian Academy of Music, where he until 1995 was employed as professor and from 1994 he was employed at Hochschule für Musik in Cologne as professor in harpsichord and early music. He has also held numerous master-classes in harpsichord and chamber music at international summer courses in Europe, Israel, USA, Korea and Japan.
