Co-operation with Music Confucius Institute
On Saturday 1st February the Year of the Horse was tuned in at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. It took place in the Concert Hall of the Academy, where Chinese and western Music met on stage in a roar of a New Year concert. Five percussion students from RDAM took part and so did the pianist Christen Stubbe Teglbjærg who accompanied the soprano Ms. Zhang Dandan as well as percussion professor Gert Mortensen in a co-performance with professor Jiajia Qiao from Central Conservatory of Music Beijing. The second part of the concert was given by thirteen young ladies from the large percussion ensemble Red Poppy Ladies' Percussion from Beijing and the Chinese ambassador in Denmark Liu Biwei gave the official New Year speech for the invited guests.
The celebration of the Chinese New Year was in co-operation with Music Confucius Institute (MCI), founded in 2012 to exchange Chinese and western music traditions and is a co-operation between RDAM and Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. MCI is situated in the Royal Academy of Music and is managed by Jiajia Qioa, vice-director and Marianne Løkke Jakobsen, director.
