Before Applying

The Royal Danish Academy of Music (RDAM) welcomes applicants for exchange from all higher education institutions at Bachelor or Master's level.

If your institution does not have an agreement with RDAM, please have your local international coordinator contact RDAM’s International Office.

Please contact your local international office to receive information on local application procedures and requirements.
RDAM only accepts applicants that have been nominated for exchange by their home institution.

Application Deadline

Deadline: 1 March

Applications are processed as soon as possible. RDAM strives to have an answer for all applicants by mid-May.

The result of the assessment is sent directly to both the international coordinator at the applicant's home institution and to the applicant.

Note that the applicant needs to accept the offer for exchange in the online application system to confirm acceptance.

RDAM may withdraw an offer of admission if the applicant fails to confirm the offer within the specified deadline.

 

Application

RDAM only accepts applications in the online application system EASY. RDAM does not accept applications through email or regular post.

When applying online, make sure to double check that you have chosen the correct home institution. 

Prepare the following before starting your online application. Your application may be discarded if you fail to provide the required documents and files:

  • List of subjects for the online study plan
  • Letter of Motivation
  • Letter of Recommendation -  from main subject teacher or similar
  • Audition Recording
  • Curriculum Vitae

If you are unable to apply to RDAM from your home institution in the online application system, please have your local international coordinator contact RDAM’s International Office at international@dkdm.dk.

 

LEARNING AGREEMENT

You are not required to upload a Learning Agreement in your application. Simply fill in the Study Plan in the online application system.

If you are admitted to RDAM, your Head of Study will evaluate your Study Plan and contact you regarding your Learning Agreement.

 

AUDITION REPERTOIRE & RECORDING

The audition repertoire is free of choice within the classical western repertoire and should be maximum 15 min.

Editing is only allowed between performances (i.e. between pieces), and the audition must be recorded within six months of submitting your application.

NOTE: If you insert a link to your audition recording(s) in the application, make sure that it is accessible without login and/or password.

Composition applicants must submit the score of one or two composed piece(s) showing both technical and compositional skills.

Tonmeister/Sound Engineer applicants must submit a production, incl. a production plan.

 

Academic Year

  • Autumn semester: Late August to late December
  • Spring semester: Mid January to late June

 

COURSE CATALOGUE

The subjects available to exchange students are:

  • Third year subjects for bachelor students
  • First year subjects for master students

All subjects are taught in English except subjects in pedagogy where Danish is required.

Note that RDAM does not offer exchange in the following programmes:

  • Orchestra Conducting
  • Early Music (except Recorder, Harpsicord and Viola de Gamba)
