Amalie Malling

Associate professor, Piano

Amalie Malling was born in Lübeck, Germany, of Danish parents. Her teachers include Herman D. Koppel, Hans Leygraf, Georg Vasarhélyi, and Alfred Brendel.

Since 1972, when Amalie Malling won First Prize in the Nordic Music Competition, she has engaged in extensive concert activities as a soloist and chamber musician in Denmark as well as the rest of Europe, the USA, Canada, China and Japan.

She has won many music prizes, induding the Gade Scholarship, the Performer's Prize of the Music Critics' Circle, and the Tagea Brandt Travelling Scholarship.

Amalie Malling has recorded a large number of CDs, including 4 solo CDs with music by Mozart, Schumann and contemporary Danish piano music, in addition to the piano concerti by Schumann, Schönberg, Kuhlau ,Grieg and Otto Malling. Furthermore several recordings with the cellist Morten Zeuthen, the Kontra Quartet and in piano duo with the Swedish pianist Hans Pålsson.

Since 1981 Amalie Malling has been an associate professor of the Royal Danish Academy of Music.
