Jan Lund was trained as singer and pianist, followed by further singing studies in particular London and Rome. Jan works as an oratorio and concert singer across the country with a large repertoire of modern and classic opera. Jan has sung with most Danish opera companies, and especially the Danish National Opera, The Funen Opera, Den Anden Opera and Aarhus Summer Opera. In 2005, he made his debut in January with great success at the Royal Theatre in Odysseus in the role as Telamaco. Abroad, Jan has been associated with Transparant Muziektheater in Antwerp and he has sung with companies in Austria, Holland, Belgium and Norway and England and Scotland.
Jan has a solid collaboration with soprano Elsebeth Dreisig as part of the constellations "duet of the plague" and "Dogma Opera". In addition, Jan is part of the chamber music trio "Nielsen Trio", which has just released the critically acclaimed CD "Carl Nielsen - Sange i nyt lys".
Jan's CD recordings include opera recordings from Den Anden Opera, songs by Carl Nielsen with Aalborg Symphony Orchestra, and also songs by Nielsen and Delius with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic. Jan is the recipient of a number of awards and scholarships include the Spies Foundation, Operaens Venner, Aalborg Symphony Orchestra and the Queen Ingrid Fundation.
In 2009 Jan completed the Master's programme in elite voice teaching from the Royal Danish Academy of Music, and has since been employed as a voice teacher at the Academy. Jan teach also voice at Sjællands Kirkemusikskole and is also a much sought private voice teacher.
