Jesper Juul Windahl is a significant performer with an extensive work as an orchestral musician, soloist and chamber musician at the international level as well as teaching experience from several music academies and a parallel career as a conductor.

Jesper Juul Windahl was born in 1973. After matriculation from Thisted Gymnasium, he trained as a trombonist at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, followed by studies in Paris, Chicago and London and at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, where he made his debut concert in 1998. As only 23, he was hired as the principal solo trombonist in DR Symphony Orchestra. For several years he was also a member of Athelas Sinfonietta, and he has been very active as a chamber musician in various contexts. Among other things, He has been the initiator of ensembles such as The Danish Trombone Quartet and Danish Brass Quintet.

Jesper Juul Windahl has won several international competitions and was made DR P2 Artist of the Year 2000-2001. He has also been a soloist in many contexts, including concerts with international orchestras such as Südwestrundfunk Sinfonie-Orchester, Bayerischer Rundfunk, and the Suisse Romande Orchestra. As a soloist he has recorded several CDs, including Romantic Trombone Concertos with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra. Finally, he has been very active in creating new Danish trombone literature and premiered a large number of works for trombone.

Jesper Juul Windahl has taught at the music academies in Copenhagen, Aarhus, Esbjerg and Malmö. He was also trained as a conductor at the Academy and in recent years he has had assignments with Danish National chamber Orchestra, Athelas Sinfonietta, Danish National Symphony Orchestra and the regional orchestras. In 2009-2012 he was chief conductor of the Prince's Band.
