Concert activities

Jesper Sivebak has given numerous concerts at home and abroad as a soloist and chamber musician. He performs with Scandinavian Guitar Duo and Ullner / Sivebak Cello and Guitar.

He also partakes in collaboration with composers composing new works for both classical guitar and as well as electric guitar. He performs regulary with Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen. He was part of Ensemble Fyn from 1998 to 2008.

Jesper Sivebak has played the first performances in Denmark of guitar concerts by Karl Aage Rasmussen, Lars Heegård, Ulrik Neumann, Anders Koppel and Poul Ruders.

He has been a soloist with a number of orchestras, among others Malmö Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra Kielce (Poland), Aarhus Simfonietta, Randers Chamber Orchestra. He has had major solo engagements with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Copenhagen Philharmonic and the Danish Royal Orchestra. As a soloist he has performed with conductors such as Jean Thorel, Søren K. Hansen, David Riddell, Paavo Järvi.

He has also been a visiting professor at the Royal Academy of Music in London, Musikhögskolan in Malmö, Sweden, the Academy of Music in Tallinn and at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in the United States.


Educated at the Carl Nielsen Academy with associate professor Jørgen Bjørslev. Further studies at the University of Quebec in Montreal with Prof. Alvaro Pierri. He made his debut from the soloist class at the Music Academy in Malmö with Professor Per-Olof Johnsson.

Prize winner in international guitar competitions

  • Francisco Tarrega prize at the 23rd Certamen Internacional di Guitarra Francisco Tarrega in Benidorm, Spain.
  • Concours International de Guitarre in Carpentras, France.
  • Incontri Chitarristici di Gargnano, Italy.
  • Winner of DR's Chamber Music Competition as part of the Scandinavian Guitar Duo.
  • Recipient of Sonning Foundation's special "Segovia price".
