Sven-Ingvart Mikkelsen was trained at the conservatories of Esbjerg, Copenhagen, Vienna and Paris, and made his debut in 1982. He has previously taught at the Danish National Academy of Music in Esbjerg and The Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen, and he has held master-classes and given lectures at conservatoires and music high schools in Denmark and abroad.
As a concert organist, Sven-Ingvart Mikkelsen has performed extensively as soloist and chamber musician in a number of European countries and the USA. He has made several CD recordings, including the complete organ works of Nicolaus Bruhns, Georg Böhm, J.-A. Guilain, Nicolas de Grigny and J.A. Scheibe. Research and books about French baroque and plainsong, the composer J.A. Scheibe as well as the historic Compenius Organ at Frederiksborg Castle.
As a church musician, Sven-Ingvart Mikkelsen has been organist at Løgumkloster church and Frederiksborg Castle Church. He is now an organist at Saint Mark's church in Copenhagen.
